Carhartt WIP lavori
One Brand – Two Stories
Hamilton Carhartt, the founder of Carhartt, was an independent thinker, an endless creator, but above all, a champion of doing things that had never been done before.
He believed in himself and in the goods he made. And he believed in everyone, "whether they work for me or buy from me," he said. In doing so, he not only built a workwear brand but also forged friendships that have lasted for over 130 years. Today, Carhartt represents every hardworking man and woman who approaches life with the same attitude as Hamilton.
Carhartt, the original workwear brand founded in 1889 in Detroit, Michigan, USA, has been crafting durable products that serve and protect hardworking people every year since. Clothing born out of respect for hard-earned money, to be high-quality and extremely durable, and that can always be relied upon to perform even in the worst conditions and inclement weather. Because Carhartt makes gear that's got your back all day, every day, 24/7.
About 100 years after Carhartt began producing overalls in the USA, Carhartt WIP adapted these classic products for the European market. To this day, Carhartt WIP adapts legendary Carhartt clothing for those seeking sophisticated design and a style that remains true to the brand's origins.
History
Established in 1994 by Edwin Faeh, Carhartt Work In Progress (WIP) develops its own collections based on original Carhartt workwear. The brand combines authentic adaptations of these robust American archetypes, while engaging with the subcultures that have embraced it. This, in turn, has seen Carhartt WIP place itself in a new context and bring forth its own classics.
Carhartt WIP opened its first store in London in 1997 and today operates over 80 brick and mortar locations worldwide. It also has its own skate team and music department, while supporting an array of artists and releasing various publications. Since 2010, Carhartt WIP has worked with a number of like-minded collaborators, including A.P.C., Converse, Fragment Design, Junya Watanabe, Nike, Underground Resistance, and Motown.
